“I love you….but we will have to part our
ways ‘cause my parents will never accept our marriage?”
Don’t crease up your
forehead when you read this heart-breaking sentence. How many of you have seen couples ending up
their relationships this way? I’m sure many of you must have, and the reason is
generally that the two belong to different castes or religion.
Since childhood we have learnt that everything
is fair in Love and War, then why do people look at Inter-caste marriages with skepticism?
They say that such a marriage won’t survive long because of the differences in
the customs and traditions between the two communities. But doesn't an arranged
marriage require certain amount of adjustments & compromises? Then why do
we begin with a Communal War when it comes to love?
Parents and other members of the society
who raise their eyebrows and discard love marriages need to learn a lot from
the couples of the B-Town. When we are so keen at following the Bollywood stars,
discussing about them, imitating them and worshiping them, then why don’t we
take something ‘more’ out of their real lives as well? Yes ladies and gentlemen, I am pointing
towards the successful and happy love-marriages of our very own Bollywood celebrities who despite belonging to two different religions/communities live
in perfect harmony with each other.
To begin with lets’ look at the most
renowned Bollywood couple – Amitabh and Jaya Bacchan, one belongs to the
Srivastava Kayastha family while the latter comes from a Bengali family. But aren’t
they an ideal couple for our generation, even of our parents? The second most
popular couple is that of the King Khan and his Queen – Gauri Khan. Their happy
and romantic union is an example for all generations to come. The other famous
Bollywood couples, who have their stories similar to the recently showcased
movie 2 States, are Dharmendra and Hema Malini, Boney Kapoor and Sridevi, Vidya
Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, Shilpa Shetty
and Raj Kundra, Ritiesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’souza, and now Soha Ali Khan and
Kunal Khemu are ready to tie their knots very soon on 25th Jan 2015 and
set yet another example of Inter-caste Marriages where love persists forever.
These Bollywood couples went against all
odds and have broken all social norms on the basis of which parents and society
discard inter-caste marriages. Let us all learn this bit from the stars of our Bollywood industry and start accepting the pure relationships of the true soul mates
‘cause dear friends; Love really does not have any boundaries and is way beyond
social norms such as caste, creed, clan, religion, age, color or even community.
